You assume this society would be voluntary. What happens when citizens no longer volunteer to be a part of it after it fails? Socialism, by it's very nature requires centralized government to be enacted. Government is a monopoly on violence and an opinion at the end of a gun.

I did. You're describing localized charity, not socialism. The only socialist structure that doesn't degenerate into a dystopian hellscape is a family.
