As someone who did some surrogate TV hits in 2016, I will never not be mad at the GOP and moderate Dem pundits who tried to tell us everything was going to be "fine" and to "stop overreacting".

Truth of the matter is this: Black and other people of color (esp those w/out passing privileges or getting a check from Trump)saw what was up in 2015. WE are the experts on racism we've lived it every day of our lives. And we should've been listened too.

And if you asked a black or brown immigrant or refugee what they thought of Trump in 2015 or 2016? 9/10 times they'd have told you they'd seen this ISH before (that's why they are in the US) and do not vote for the guy or folks will live to regret it.

"if some of y'all hadn't arrogantly assumed some of us were "overreacting" to Trump's election." Those same people *still* think that what he does is good and justifiable, they're consistently terrible.

In my social circle, it was moderate Dems and progressives. All didn’t like Trump, but all also showed zero alarm about him. And all were white. I was told not to worry. Or I had to watch while they were busy not worrying.

I’m having a hard time managing the anger I’m feeling towards every single person who tried to dismiss and who told me I was overreacting

I have had more eyes rolled at me than I can count, told to calm down, told I was being dramatic. Trust me I can BE dramatic. That wasn’t it. And now here we are and I wish I felt any satisfaction at being right all along. I just feel sad.
