Finally, the (belated) lab anniversary party! I'm blessed to have these brilliant, kind, fun & caring people in the lab. I love them all. We've had a wonderful year of doing science (building stuff mainly!) & growing up together. To many more years of science & fun at LIM lab!

A daily Black scientist thread in honor of (and doubling down today since it's the 2nd). Dr. Marie M. Daly (1921-2003) was an American biochemist; in 1947, she became the first African-American woman to obtain a PhD in Chemistry.

Many (all) species are sensitive to temporal regularities, learning and utilizing them seamlessly in different contexts. Ultimate case: human babies learning language. Check this beautiful work, where Catherine shows how mice are using temp regularities in their courtship beh.

Today I will be teaching my undergrad course "How to build a brain from scratch" for the 2nd year running. I've put the materials online - include a document with all lecture slides and notes, which is about as long as a decent novel. Enjoy!
