I’m a teacher. The last time I held a gun was when I played Duck Hunt, and I sucked at that. My job is to connect with kids and teach them a language. No shooting required.

How about asking us teachers? Bc the answer is NO - I do NOT want to be trained for this! I didn’t sign up for this!!!!!!
-
Trump & Rick Scott can't give you money for school supplies, but they'll give you bullets, guns, Kevlar vests and arms training. Got it
-
Soooo true!!!! So we gotta buy our own supplies but you’re gonna send me to the shooting range?pic.twitter.com/pu9sTBnA0t
-
Exactly. With what money? How about making sure our kids parents make a living wage so they don’t have to work 3 jobs? How about Medicare for all with mental health? How about enough counselors and social workers in schools? How about teaching the whole child!
-
Thank you. For some of my students, school is the ONLY safe place they have. Why ruin it and make it a prison. Why make them feel unsafe? More guns isn't the answer. GOP want to place the responsibility on schools/teachers rather than piss off gun voters & lose #NRABloodMoney -
In high school and college, I spent way more time in those buildings/campus than I did at home. Those places, ppl in them, were my entire life
-
You're so right. My 15 year old is in NHS, plays football, basketball & baseball at his high school. He is there on average 8 hours a day for meetings, study sessions, practices, workouts and games. It is supposed to be a safe place!

Working in a school I would say absolutely
no. To put this burden of responsibility on teachers would be cruel and crazy. In the event of an active shooter or the threat it would cause chaos and more possibility of death. -
Someone recently made the point that carrying a gun could be a death sentence for black and brown teachers. Remember Philando Castile?
-
Absolutely. It is a nightmare waiting to happen

Oh hell no. My dad was a school teacher & administrator, my sis a school social worker & my wife a school counselor. I have 26 years of university teaching experience, own guns & taught gun safety. And there's no way my family members or I want guns (including ours) in schools.

I teach high school. I would resign before I’d allow a firearm in my room.

I teach at a school. It's an absolutely idiotic idea, on any number of levels.

When I was in the military we trained and trained and trained so we could perform and go to war if called on even then people are killed by friendly fire a weapon in the hands of a lesser trained person is a recipe for disaster
