Since when do you include the amount you give to charity when asked how much you paid in taxes?

@aterkel Don't see the problem. Philanthropy is a good thing. Giving money away should be encouraged.

@aterkel don't forget majority was mandated by LDS church...therefore not truly voluntary

@aterkel If the charity constitutes your chosen alternative authority structure, it is permissible

@aterkel Because giving to your favorite 501(c)(3) or religion is clearly the functional equivalent of helping provide for the common good.

@aterkel And does tithing to the Mormon church count as charity to mitt?

@aterkel --It's also important to note that one man's charity is another man's hate group. The Mormon church poured a lot of $$$ in2 Prop 8.

@aterkel --Excellent point! We know that Romney tithes to the Mormon church, so he'd only have 2 pay 10% in taxes 2 get 2 a total of 20%.

@aterkel Are the Romneys claiming they tithe 10% to LDS church (mandatory minimum), but none to other charities?

@aterkel Uh. Never. Cause the former reduces the latter. Is he counting charitable contributions as taxes? Is that how he's above 20%?
