one gripe with your piece is it makes it sound like it's just rich male donors who disagree with forcing Franken out of town on a rail without even a single hearing .But I can attest that Twitter mentions were never more viral-against Gilibrand-and majority of tweets from women

-
-
So let's be clear it's not only wealthy male donors that think Franken should have at least had a hearing. Meanwhile Jim Jordan is running for House Speaker. The asymmetry is a concern
-
But there is no question that Gilibrand's quickness to demand a resignation before we even figured out the facts got a very negative reaction from a lot of women as well
-
And the choices for Gilibrand were not either be silent or call for his resignation that night. What's wrong with a hearing? Many of those charges were very thin

… is Roger Stone (HIM!) having some connection to the Tweeden angle (I forget exactly), and a massive about of bot activity very soon after the initial news, adding to the feeling that he must resign NOW!. 2/3 (oops)
-
@JohnMashey has excellent information about the validity of Franken's accusations. It was a dirty setup by Stone, Tweeden and her Sinclair station, and Hannity. Tweeden is a friend of Don Jr.'s, BTW. - End of conversation

She should have called for the investigation to complete. She's out in my eyes. We have enough problems with Republicans than to have people like her eating their own for brownie points.

If you're going to go after Gillibrand, go after her on her lack of principles or loyalty, her willingness to suck up to the NRA or Wall Street when it was convenient, etc., not for what happened to Franken.

All she had to say was, "I'm deeply troubled by the allegations. I look forward to seeing a thorough investigation run its course." Why is that so hard!?

There was nothing wrong in speaking out on Franken, but it was not time to call for his resignation. She ignored all notions of nuance, context, proportionality. One of the things that made Franken different - not that he is pro women's issues, bright, had seniority enough
-
MeToo has no proportionality. MeToo has no due process. It’s trial by public opinion and guilt is assumed. Plus
@SenGillibrand went harder on Franken than on Trump! That’s why donors are mad.

It still doesn't sit well with me that they basically bullied him into stepping down without a full investigation or trial and now we lost a great senator

Your article is not true. It states, "Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), however, reportedly told Franken in private that he needed to go beforehand."

A Russian plot to take out a rising D star isn't really that shocking. This is separate from Gillibrand, who is merely a back-stabbing opportunist. :) thanks!

thanks for this article. It has stirred up a lot of s--t, including with me. I am one of those Franken fans and you captured *almost*. all my hot buttons with regard to outrage about how it went down, including my pretty intense anger at Gillibrand. What you missed ... 1/2

tough for her being the one out front on this. Good for her for sticking to her guns.

Makes sense, she's kind of committed at this point, what else would she do?

It's hard to take Gillibrand seriously as a principled person when the principle she stood up for was punishment without any chance to examine the evidence in some setting other than a media storm.

Good, it's called integrity. Nice to see the Senator display some. Maybe more Democrats should follow her lead.
