I think Al Franken should run again. Let’s see how he does. If he wins the election, it means that women have forgiven him. If not he stays home and plays with his grandchildren.

Forgive him? For what? He did nothing wrong.
-
I agree. I would gladly vote for Al in Minnesota. He did so much for us. We need him.
-
the idea that some other middle of the road democrat couldn't do just as much is what i dont get. he wasnt ted kennedy, he was a solid Democrat, of which there are thousands across the state
-
It's about having honor and integrity and standing behind Al Franken. Not throw him under the bus bc there are replacements for him.
-
the argument was literally "nobody can do the job but him," so i disagree here
-
literally the tweet i replied to said "He did so much for us. We need him." others can do the same middle of the road democrat stuff, he wasnt some singular hero who was SO progressive and SO strong that we should look past his actions.

She and every other Senator who demanded Franken’s resignation without the ethics committee investigation he asked for showed poor judgement and lost a chance to set up a process to hold members of Congress accountable. We see the ramifications of that now with Jim Jordan.
-
That was stupid. And harmful to the Senate. Immediately after Franken said he would resign someone tried to frame Sen Schumer for sexual harassment with a falsified legal settlement. It also totally screwed over MN voters, and as Franken’s constituent, I won’t be forgetting it
-
To this day I do not understand why the matter of respecting the will of the voters did not come up and did not matter. Instead we had other Senators deciding who would fill the office. And using that to install a woman. Ends justifies means.
-
I'm not from Minnesota and I'm still pissed at how they handled it. The investigation should have been done first. Has anyone heard from those women since? Story dropped after those Senators forced Sen Franken out. Gillibrand and Harris were the most vocal about it!
-
It's a mess all the way around. Justice has been denied for so long, for ever, in matter of sexual harassment. And the reaction went too far. We need to do better in all respects. Ending harassment, respecting democracy and due process.
-
I agree with you 100% on this.
-
Thanks. We need a more creative and productive response than "off with his head." In this case they could have used events to reform the broken Senate ethics process. Actually change the system. & respect democracy & due process Franken could have been a battering ram on that.
-
It’s a terrible precedent. That’s why someone immediately tried to smear Sen Schumer after Franken agreed to resign. The lack of careful deliberation and strategy to score a short term optics win offends me.

I am one who will not support her
-
I just got a solicitation in the mail from her for money. I sent it back stating when she apologizes to Al Franken, i will think about supporting her again.

It’s not about standing up for women- it’s your failure to see this was an obvious hit job designed to get rid of him. There was no there there.
-
so how many more than eight accusers constitutes a there, there?
-
Accusers who were mostly anonymous accusing him of putting his hand on their back? The obvious hit job of that prank photo in which she was never touched and was wearing a protective vest For FKs sake!!
-
three named and then the last named accuser was a well respected journalist from Atlantic Magazine. Breast, butt, what's your investment in this? not mostly and not their back.
-
"He squeezed my flesh." She was referring to some nebulous area above her waist and on her side. Like where a muffintop would be. Fetch the smelling salts.
