So far, the only people Trump has pardoned are celebrities or people with political connections. Obama, in contrast, issued nearly 2K clemencies with a process of relying on DOJ recommendations — celebrity was not a requirement.

No he gave medals to Trump Haters. Obama did NOTHING for middle class. He partied all night long with Beyoncé and Jayz smoking weed. He gave away 150 billion cash w/o permission from congress to his buddies.

In less than 2 full years of Trump's presidency, he's pardoned 3 people. In the first 2 full years of Obama's presidency, he pardoned 9 people. At this stage of Obama's presidency, he had issued exactly zero commutations. Your tweet is dishonest. Do better next time. #hack

A correction: Trump has pardoned 5 people. Also, last December, Trump issued one commutation. So, based on time served as President, Trump leads Obama in commutations 1-0. Obama still has a 9-5 lead in pardons.

300+ done on the same day as a parting shot on leaving the WH. Chelsea Manning & Oscar Lopez Rivera 2 infamous cases. What does that say? It smacks of trying 2leave an untarnished legacy which is bonkers given his corrupt involvement in the ME & meddling in Israeli elections. 🤔

Do you approve of the D'Souza pardon on the merits? The crime was rarely (if ever) prosecuted and his prosecution seemed politically targeted. Should a person's politics affect their likelihood of ending up in prison? Isn't that the point of the first amendment?

A person's committing a crime should affect their likelihood of ending up in prison. The guy plead guilty.

But the prosecution itself was biased - attorney Pierce O'Donnell gave $26,000 in illegal contributions to 2004 Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards and ended up facing only misdemeanor charges. I would be in favor of this pardon for any liberal pundit as well.

The purpose of a pardon is to overturn a judicial proceeding, pointing out the results of the proceeding doesn’t really advance the argument.

It specifically addresses your argument that D'Souza was selectively prosecuted. The very clear purpose of this pardon is to send a very clear message to Michael Cohen and any other Trump allies that are getting caught right now.

Yes...and again the raison d'être for the pardon is that the decision was wrong. Also, the alleged purpose of the pardon is not knowable without being clairvoyant.
