The problem is, if we ran the government by doing everything the American public polls overwhelmingly in favor of, we’dquickly have Greece’s credit ratings. The American people are marvelous in many ways, but they are very bad accountants. https://twitter.com/mims/status/1128022619599536128 …

yes and doing what's popular and doing what is right are often 2 different things.

Another policy that massively disadvantages small businesses & entrepreneurship, in general. Both of which are already in steep decline.

No. We’d have “things” that modern, 1st W countries have. You know, like univ. health care, univ. education, infrastructure that’s not crumbling, ubiquitous HSI & trains, etc., and minute tax eva./spending on military equipment/invasions. All great for people/entrepreneurs.

The *WHOLE POINT* of the US Constitution is to make it difficult to do everything public opinion polls overwhelmingly support. Because public opinion shifts quickly. The whole point of the legislation process is to slow it down and give time for the fervor to pass.

Any apologies from you to families of veterans who died waiting for substandard care in the VA system? Gee, this is a fun game to play!

Oh god, not another economically illiterate argument based on the "unaffordability" of some policy. What the American people cant afford is dumb policies, pork barrel politics and a corrupted civil service. What they apparently can afford is the #F35

That's why we have a Constitutional Republic (not a democracy), where the Constitution is designed to protect minorities against mob rule.
