Most of Betelgeuse's energy is emitted in the infrared, which has NOT dimmed; the observed dimming is dust forming in its atmosphere (as it does).

The American Museum of Natural History is hiring a new public programs coordinator! I work with this person a lot on Planetarium programs, lectures or innovative general public events. Maybe that person will be you? Pass the word.

I only just heard about this Cassini Enceladus result from a talk abstract of the first author: "Here we report observations of emitted ice grains containing ... macromolecular organic material with molecular masses above 200 atomic mass units."
