Why do we only view “service to ones country” in terms of waging war on the global south. How come this pat phraseology is never used for nurses, firefighters, activists, public defenders or teachers? So much suffering is laundered when liberals embrace these jingoistic cliches.

Every time someone I previously thought was intelligent posts something positive about cryptocurrencies, I get to trim my follow list by one.

Is it just me or are Amazon orders and shipping getting worse and worse? I've had three items in the past week just... vanish into the ether.

A year ago, the Governor of NC, Roy Cooper, gave UNC Chancellor Carol Folt the opportunity to move or remove Silent Sam. She refused to act. Instead, she spent nearly half a million dollars to protect the statue. Sam had to come down. The way it did is on her.

From an alumni, congrats on pulling that statue down, kids. Sorry we weren’t able to do it.

So this is why people need to understand things besides science. Only someone truly ignorant of history and literature could say this.

It's really weird how many people seem to give people a pass for terrible opinions if they have *any* seemingly normal traits, no matter how trivial. "Sure, he wants to send Mexicans to the camps, but he can eat with chopsticks and runs an insta for his dog"

I am just learning that there's a special name for certain types of hot dogs with chili and onions in Rhode Island. What vile blandness is our country that a hot dog with chili and onions is considered a regional specialty?

Jose Urena hitting Acuña on the first pitch just because he was afraid to pitch to him is one of those classic, career-defining dirty plays. Ten years from now it'll be the only thing Urena is remembered for.

It throws me off when I'm listening to the China History Podcast (which is serious and straightforward) and a commercial for another podcast comes on with some goofy gimmick. The worst one is "You don't like history? Well, history is just stories..." Dude, I'm listening to CHP

All expressions of culture under capitalism are ultimately commodified into their surface elements which are then sold as a purchasable identity. You don't need to know the meaning behind music, you only need to buy it to be a "fan" Nothing escapes this fate
