    My paper with on the stellar mass of the Milky Way halo and its components is finally done, and up on the arXiv (). In it, we use and data to measure the mass in stars with different element abundances and eccentricity

    How many more stars Gaia near-infrared would see compared to Gaia which already observes ~2 billion stars. Integrated over the sky about a factor of 5. Factors of hundreds are possible towards the central regions where most dust is! Make Gaia-NIR happen:
