I really hope we're getting past the school marm tsk tsking on Twitter. If there's one thing we all should have learned by now: nobody is perfect. Nobody is pure. We all make mistakes. We all have room to learn and grow. Lots of high and mighty folks on my timeline. Eek.

We have to figure out how we're going to deal with this endless persecution going forward. Most older folks can't survive a deep dive into their past for purity. Young people don't have a big footprint. We older folks do. I've been online since 1994.

Not arguing that, though. Read my RTs on the topic, I've covered both sides, I hope you'll realize my take is moderate & forgiving. But I'll insist on complete honesty, esp. where it impacts investigative forensics, and an invaluable web resource.

This whole "we're pure inside and out, for our whole lives" is new. It's modern. And it's the left collapsing on ourselves. But if you all believe that is a good use of time and resources? Then that is sad to me. This is like Salem in the 1600s.

Again, I'm dead set against neo-Puritanism, and that's not my beef w the whole Reid issue. And I'm only speaking for myself here, please don't bundle me into any imagined collective.

No worries. And we don't have to agree on everything :)

Back then, the idea was that people were secretly witches, imbued with some kind of evil that had to be purged from them. Now, it's "we're all secretly racists or homophobes or harassers" and our impurity is threatening the sanctity of the village. It's BIZARRE.
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Meanwhile, children are being enslaved and raped in the Middle East, the coral reefs are bleaching beyond repair, pigs are being tortured in gestation crates, the GOP is rolling back civil rights on a daily basis. While we chase our tails going after good people like Joy Reid.

That's neither here nor there, I'm against online militia "lynching" in all its forms, and in fact, I've seen several progressive voices crushed in recent days on both sides of this & similar arguments. I believe in compassionate intellectual honesty.
