Haha I deleted them off my iPad. Used to set myself ridiculous challenges, like pistols/grenades only, one man teams etc

To think, you could prime a grenade and hide it in a toilet. Never did complete a toilet-nade only mission. One day.

Phoenix Point is just over the horizon, maybe we can try similar challenges there :)

Maybe, modern games strike me as all a bit ‘on-rails’. The illusion of freedom. Xcom-Apoc was the last one with a decent amount of strategic freedom.

Heh, I got hooked into watching part of an Apoc walkthrough yday. Man, those aliens weren't messing about (even after you got the toxins going). I'm not sure I could pull off a whole campaign of it today.

Yep one bad boomer and yer squad’s kaput. Lots of inventory management as well which I grow weary of in my old age

Yeah, that part esp. gets on my nerves nowadays. And to think I used to trek back & forth to hoard everything. Kids nowadays would be horrified at having to explode every loot drop to get rid of brain bugs :p

Found a box a few weeks ago with all my old Spectrum programming stuff in. Had high hopes of learning machine code when I was 9pic.twitter.com/tWbFwgBKKk

Oh wow, that one I didn't have. Shelves full of Your Spectrum/Your Sinclair, Crash & Your Computer, but not this. I pair-programmed Z80 listings w my brother into the Speccy, and read the ROM Disassembly, but wasn't much of a machine coder tbh.

These are pretty awesome. I entertained the thought for a long time myself, and also tried my hand at drawing sprites, but didn't have the flair/focus. The entire history of the gaming industry, pre-corporatization was a story of "what ifs." Cheers for sharing this, mate :)

Good stuff! I might get into it again when I’m an old man. Reckon it’ll be a doddle.
