FB continues to be disingenuous at best (ie. I keep smelling bullshit). At some point, they have to explain this part of the investigation, alleging that they *gave* an anonymised, aggregate dataset of ~57bn friendships to Kogan https://www.theguardian.com/news/2018/mar/22/facebook-gave-data-about-57bn-friendships-to-academic-aleksandr-kogan … https://twitter.com/sivavaid/status/981605229086076928 …

You should really look into what 57bn aggregate friendships on a national level means. He got data that showed number of friends per country. i.e. USA 363489 Russia, USA 139492 Finland, etc. not as sensational as you’d like it to be.

As I’d “like it to be”? If you think I’m somehow misrepresenting the issues involved here, feel free to correct me, but kindly don’t misconstrue my intent.

They had an established working relationship and FB provided the aggregate data for research. This, I really believe, was harmless. Lots to answer for, but would prefer we don’t muddy the waters.

It’s a valid angle of the investigation, as I’m sure others will point out. I like Muddy Waters as much as any other blues fan, but we’re not talking music here ;)
