Monopolies/cartels rarely control,100% of market, economically inefficient as same results can be achieved by smaller share. Just because others can set up their own Facebook/Google alternative won't challenge their dominant position

The dominant position is bolstered by herd mentalities, as well as by economies of scale. Users will always opt for dancing pigs over [security/freedom/usability], and to share them where all their friends can see.
