I've been largely reared on j-standards by the BBC radio, like many people around the globe, but that's precisely why I won't be cutting them any slack when they cut corners on stories challenging the establishment.

By contrast, for instance, Newshour's coverage of Syria is mostly excellent lately, featuring conflict reports from the ground, and even personal testimonies. They can do compelling/vital journalism on stories they care about.

The worst part is that misrepresentation of stories begins w broad stroke bulletins ("breach"), not alloting enough time/including enough PoVs for the full story to unfold. It's what happened w the BBC's coverage of the Greek financial crisis.
