Brief tech rant: Looks like the phone/tablet market is getting crappier by the year. C. 2017, I still can’t find devices worthy of being called successors of the Nexus 4/5/7’s

Esp. the tablet segment has basically shrunk to “which iPad should I get?”. I don’t want an iPad, I want at least one affordable/powerful/compact quasi-stock Android device. In 2017, not sure it exists

3 quasi-decent contestants are the Lenovo Tab4 Plus, Huawei Mediapad m3 & Asus Zenpad 3S. But the market is pushing crappy low end (eg. 16gb, no 4G) versions & they all have hardware issues

Apple can get away w shipping dual core, 2Gb/16Gb iPads due to the optimized nature of their platform (I guess), Android pads w similar specs are to be avoided like the plague. Make octa-core/3Gb/32Gb the default offering, manufacturers, I know you can

And don’t even get me started on how Android manufacturers have all but locked the platform w bloat & warranty watchdogs, making bootloader unlocking/rooting almost illegal

Lastly, what’s wrong with the 7” format (all but abolished)? Worked wonders for N7, why should devices keep getting bigger than our pockets? I guess I can settle for 8/7.9” but I wish I wouldn’t have to.

In closing, N7 is still badass, maybe I should be looking to source a couple more from stockhouses instead of looking for a new tablet. Meh, 2017pic.twitter.com/lC1ef9UKf7
