Brief tech rant: Looks like the phone/tablet market is getting crappier by the year. C. 2017, I still can’t find devices worthy of being called successors of the Nexus 4/5/7’s

Esp. the tablet segment has basically shrunk to “which iPad should I get?”. I don’t want an iPad, I want at least one affordable/powerful/compact quasi-stock Android device. In 2017, not sure it exists

3 quasi-decent contestants are the Lenovo Tab4 Plus, Huawei Mediapad m3 & Asus Zenpad 3S. But the market is pushing crappy low end (eg. 16gb, no 4G) versions & they all have hardware issues

Let alone the fact that domestic pricing for hardware in Greece, due to inflated VAT & crisis knock-on effects, ends up being >1.5x the nominal value in $ in many cases (eg. $250 device priced €370)

I’m looking for a tablet, not a phone. 1+ also has a rep for dropping support for their devices, going by forum chatter. Also, this isn’t what I mean by “easy to root”https://m.androidcentral.com/oneplus-backdoor-what-it-what-it-isnt-and-what-you-need-know …
