Mildly curious if this is a thing for others, too https://twitter.com/asteris/status/873957830436454401 … (might just be my decrepit rig at fault, or FF needs a reinstall)

I've seen them but: running Wayland (which I don't trust), have various blockers in FF, etc. So I fgured it was me.

This one? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wayland_(display_server_protocol) … I didn't even know such a thing existed. Thanks for the feedback, so it's not just on Windows

Never tried Fedora, I'm running a Mate/Ubuntu hybrid as my secondary, but it's past time I did a walkabout of distros to see what's what.

I'm not recommending Fedora, or unrecommending it, it's default that I fell into some years ago. These days everything is gnome 3 anyways

Know what you mean, mate, same w me & Ubuntu. Ported from Debian sid/kubuntu, eons ago. Much prefer Mate to Unity, at any rate.

sometime when you feel like it, I would love to hear a rundown of the differences (mate/unity).

Never warmed up to KDE either, I'd be interested in a post-Unity Gnome evolution, but I need the basic classic Gnome to work first.

I've gone through kde periods, primarily because gnome was crashing every few days. it never really clicked for me though.

Nah, I could never get with their program, esp. KDE4 (too slidey, like Unity.) Really, give Mate a try. Maybe a Mint live distro.
