There's a certain scifi book (well-written, no spoilers) I'm having trouble reading b/c half of it is the PoV of criminals against humanity.

I believe the demand for peace always rises to the top. The problem is... how long does that take & what provokes it?
-
Weariness of war, says the rational me. But it already has taken a steep toll when that's the case. In planetary terms, unthinkable.
-
*nods* Mibbes get a different book to read? Try this one again in a few months?
-
Good advice. Truth be told, current events are what make reading it largely unbearable (no fault of the author)
-
I'm reading @SteveHall5582 Rise of the Right It's upsetting me. Couple of pages at a time is all I can manage
-
Um, take your own good advice, maybe shelve it for another day? Even more close to home than my troubling scifi
-
Lols! I know. I'll give it a week, if a couple of pages a day is still bothering me, I'll live it aside for a while
-
Take care, my friend. It's been lovely to talk once more :)

Humanity like the alcoholic needing to find it's rock bottom before it finally stops drinking?
-
We can't afford to be that in our time. Uncontrollable cascades may already be in motion. (Also, it almost never works for alcoholics.)
-
I'm sure many felt the same at start of world wars as they watched the beginning of hell unfold. Something about humans always seems to
-
I how you're right about this, friend. Sometimes I think we averted catastrophic cascades so far through sheer dumb luck.
