There's no way for many ppl to earn a decent living in Greece. I've been trying to avert my own migration for yrs, but it's not looking good

Met a freelance in athens last week who is thinking to leave because "not worth it if the state is taking most of it for no services back"
-
"I should not have started to be a freelancer here : you can not even know how much you'll be taxed in the months to come". Greece today..
-
"My accountant called me last year to stop providing invoices as the states will take 23 % for freelancer insurance. I became crazy"
-
"And this is how you have to go to the black market to be able to keep some of your money : you finally HAVE to cheat"
-
This is insane. Greece will force out all self employed ppl
-
I think the purpose is to force all people to become employees of some sort. Lower paid, easily taxable.
-
If so, it's self-defeating. Not enough salaried jobs, unless they're counting on colonialist heavy industry "investments" from abroad.
-
If countries had middle names, "self-defeating" would be ours.

"Pension funds"?
-
Mandatory monthly contribution (last yr's earnings-based) for freelancers to a state fund out of which they'll never really see a pension.
-
Wow. We have nothing like that for journos here
-
Journos have their own fund, but most practicing ones don't even qualify for inclusion (let alone me & my weird "internet practice" ;) )

You are considered as a journalist in Greece only if you work for a printed media/radio/tv, otherwise you are not covered by the union.
