Someone have a lighthearted, geeky conversation with me?

I'm not into Sanderson, don't buy his characters. But you might try Daniel Abraham-one of the 2 guy's behind the Expanse
-
in WoT, Sanderson had to work w established chars, I think he did a better job of it than Jordan himself in his later novels
-
I never got the WoT thing. Never even finished the first book. My brother devoured them.
-
WoT was an early acquired taste, much like Feist's Midkemia series. Most of my geek buddies started on it in high school
-
Mine too, just never happened for me. I think I was reading mostly fantasy by women, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Katherine Kurtz etc.
-
I must have been reading men too, just nothing leaping to mind at the moment.

DO IT. Mistborn is ok, but the Stormlight saga is excellent. (only two books till now though)
@amaenad -
Ah. Only read Elantris, which really didn't work for me. Might give him another chance, but I'm really into the new generation now
-
Elantris was just ok. Mistborn is better, warbreaker bad and Stormlight veeery nice :D
