Someone have a lighthearted, geeky conversation with me?

Lit. I'm on a huge fantasy kick these days. Read any Jemisin? Robert Jackson Bennet? Got my favourite nephew their books as gifts.
-
no, but I'll look up their work. My typical reads are mostly genre, but I'm open to suggestions
-
Mine too. I think I read two literary books this year, tops. I think you'll like City of Stairs.
-
Jemisin (the Dreamlood books and the current series, beginning with The Fifth Season) is for my money the most interesting Fantasy
-
writer of the age. There's a whole generation of young writers remaking the genre away from sub-Tolkien Europeanism; Ken Liu too.
-
What urban fantasy should I read? Bore of 'mortal witch kicks ass plus sexy supernatural dudes' type, not had luck w hard boiled.
-
I'm partial to Sandman Slim, great noir/hard-boiled prose, ymmv. Charles deLint's wonderful Newford stories drew me to the subgenre
-
I used to read a lot of De Lint, will try Slim, too.
