Why is it that so few theater-distributed films are capable of shivering my timbers these days? Have TV series snatched all the best talent?
I like that there's now a sort of "annual box office slot" for serious scifi, but aspects of those films are still underwhelming

For me, that it's based on an short story is a big deal. Said for decades there are dozens of stories (not novels) to be filmed

oh, most certainly, and Hollywood got plenty of mileage already from dozens of short stories. I've still to read Chiang, though

Watch the film first : ) I hadn't heard of him before, I'm afraid. Less up on short stories than I used to be.
