For the next 25yrs of Linux, let's try to nail efficiently gorgeous UX, video/audio. I can hardly fix my gamma & HDMI audio in Ubuntu as is

Argyll for colour calibration including gamma, and HDMI audio is not always the best. I like the analog-out on the PS3 better.

thanks, but I can't get audio usually to even switch to HDMI, and there's no quick way to do it

The output tab dropdown in the sound preferences in the Ubuntu system settings won’t do it?

no, and I've tried alsamixer and pavucontrol too. It works sometimes only (Windows has no such problem on same hardware)
