Ubuntu rolls out ~1 kernel update per week, mostly w.o a hitch. How come there's not an automated way to ditch the old one & save space yet?
Who needs to keep around old auto-installed kernels? Unless you're hand-rolling your own, kernel updates should be treated as pkg updates

Kernel updates are practically OS brain surgery, but they're trivial nowadays. I compiled & installed my 1st kernel over SSH yrs ago

@asteris ok these days it is rare for a kernel update to break your system but it is always nice to have a backup position. -
@thanosk understandable, but I'd appreciate an option for dselect to ditch the old one, it's time & space consuming -
@asteris space is like ~150MB trivial in todays world. don't know if ubuntu uses grub but you can ask it not to wait for kernel selection -
@thanosk ofc Ubuntu uses grub; this would be a useful option for newbies, who don't know how to cook grub. 220Mb isn't trivial on my old PC
