Asteroids w increasingly NEO trajectories are only discovered too JIT for comfort. Aversion capability still nil, preparedness still minimal
.@Capoglou I'd love to read an extensive, knowledgeable recap on the state of play in blog/article form; like the one you're giving now ;)

@asteris haha will put it on my to do list ;) -
@Capoglou what, saving mankind from errant rocks? All in a day's work, I've faith in you, space lady :) -
@asteris The purpose is to inform interested astronomers (amateur & professional) and others potentially interested in contributing to NEAs. -
@Capoglou astronomers essential, but NASA always won the public over to fight its' budgetary battles, and this one is undeniably vital -
@asteris I'm sad to say this but I think the solution will most likely come from a private entity - Google,@PlanetaryRsrcs@SpaceX etc -
@Capoglou I'll always be championing public ventures for such missions, but for this, whatever it takes

@asteris given enough warning time, and political consensus, we can actually launch a deflection mission& deflect the asteroid, saving life -
.
@Capoglou had thought/hoped so; I understand the ballpark potential within reach, which is why I'm advocating publicly. Thank you :)
