@asteris ...for many, his election is powerful symbol even if hope of his real political impact is unmet or has resulted in disappointment.

@grace8ming that's about it, a symbol. He managed to negate almost everything that symbol stood for, for me and many others globally -
@asteris i hear you, but think it's more complicated than throwing proverbial baby out w/bath water, esp. for ppl in US civil rights mvmnt -
@grace8ming "acknowledging inequality but lecturing black people to stop making excuses for the challenges they face" http://www.motherjones.com/mojo/2013/08/obama-speech-mlk-personal-responsibility … -
@asteris yes, read that & fan of ta-nahisi coates. again, I'm not defending or generalizing views of any group, just saying it's complicated

@asteris i'm angered by much of his policy/inaction but as 1st black prez he does represent social breakthrough yet unseen in many countries -
@grace8ming sorry, but I was done cutting any slack to Obama yrs ago. His admin wrought havoc on more HR issues than I care to count -
@asteris not about cutting slack. but i think wholesale write offs are unrealistic. people are more complex than that.
