Blame Syriza for its double standards... OTD a few years back, and in opposition, they were doing everything they could to stop it and to stop people enjoying #OxiDay. Now in government, they are lapping it up.

I fail to understand why the Greeks elected such an anti-Greek prime minister in the first place.

Looking for a change, some actually believed in giving what looked to be a bright hope for the future, a chance. Someone who hadn't been identified with the corruption and nepotism of the previous 40 years, thinking it couldn't get worse. This govt's ineptitude proved that wrong.

They did nothing for the poor, nothing for the education systems, the hospital system, the public transport systems despite increasing taxes and decreasing pensions. They managed to aggravate even those who voted for them and now all that interests them is holding on to the chair

So in effect it did get worse, much worse. Nominal resistance to the EU and IMF stupidly imposed austerity memoranda, crippling most households, no measures to stimulate growth, just taxes & more taxes, no reform & certainly no social welfare to speak of despite the rhetoric.

If my memory serves me right his election campaign slogan was that he would never accept the
#EU austerity measures and when he came to power he accepted even worse than originally on offer. What a loser!!! -
It was obvious to all that there was no choice in the matter if Greece was to stay in the Eurozone and most Greeks wanted to stay. It would have been much more honest for him to say, 'Look this is how it is, I cannot do anything for now but will fulfill my election promises asap'
