Actually, Red Sparrow's core spook tale is functionally brilliant, despite the lazy/cliched setup, quite in counterpoint to Atomic Blonde's OTT contrivances. In fact, they're counterpoints to each other in (dis)empowerment, even if they're both in the end misogynist at heart.
At any rate, if I'm to pick a fave OTT spy heroine of the current crop, I'll go with Ed Brubaker's Velvet.
