#TheExpanse continues to expertly adapt book 3 in Dandelion Sky. It might be extensively abbreviated, but the soul/meat of the story is there, and the visuals are awe-inspiring (I just "visited" the Ring in book 6, everything clicks). The really weird stuff start happening here.

Elizabeth Mitchell is a wonderful actress, and her portrayal of Pastor Anna is both true to form and a soul tonic eminently pertinent to current affairs https://twitter.com/zhandlen/status/1007235718077444097 … if only ministers of all creeds were like that, humanity would be a kinder, less afraid species

That's actually Pastor Anna's closing thoughts from Babylon's Ashes (book 6), partly channeled in this episode https://twitter.com/asteris/status/1009815623432658944 … the adaptation is often cleverly remixing thoughts and quotes of characters from across the novels like that

Though as a book reader, I knew that Thomas Jane would be returning to the series, it's awesome to actually have him back. He basically *is* Miller (also remixing his quotes from across chapters): at the same time an idiosyncratic noir investigator and an inscrutable alien AI.

As for David Strathairn, he relishes chewing up the scenery anytime he's on screen, totally inhabiting his series original Belter pirate-turned-manipulative XO role. Klaes Ashford deserves a prequel spinoff all his own https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ck44vfyUBaE … (that's not even his best scene)

(PS: Srsly, though, if you're watching the series, you should totally start reading the novels at this point. It's not required to enjoy the adaptation, but you'll get so much more of the good stuff.)

I’ve read all the books. So many fascinating issues. Need to watch the series

You might be peeved at adaptation liberties if you're a committed purist, but although I do miss some abbreviated material and characters, the series has actually improved on the books in general. Enjoy!

I doubt it. There’s way too much to deal with dramatically. If anything, my guess is the series might improve on the drama, emotions, & characters which sometimes seemed rudimentary compared to the wide-ranging futurist issues & plot. Dramatically, it needs some reduction
