Admittedly, Westworld's Shogun World episode was pretty entertaining & impressive (except the boring parts w Dolores), though the nightmarish "Riddle Of The Sphinx" probably won't be topped this season. Root Jedi Maeve is too OP, but I'm enjoying her crew's D&D adventures.
Couldn't have said it better. Hollywood's precocious boy wonders need some perspective recalibration from time to time.

I don't think he and both of them changed much since Memento -- I got that impression back then and it remains. Seriously, I love puzzles, but WW feels like work that needs to be de-constructed with a huge board -- like in detective films/shows, or Carrie's crazy wall.

Oh, but that's the thing, they'll never manage to put together a more elaborate puzzlebox than s1's. Which I totally appreciated, and engaged with, but it's over now. I appreciate most of his work, but he wears me out by the end (eg. Dark Knight Rises).

I agree.
