@emlynaddison @peddoc63 I don't think it was suggested as an answer. Prayer has therapeutic value. Better that than rioting...

@Gomba13 @peddoc63 Hmm I disagree with that; it wasn't prayer that prompted S. Africa to change course, it was rising violence + economics. -
@emlynaddison @peddoc63 Different things can be done to change things. Also, reactionary behaviour seldom has desirable results.
-
@Gomba13 @peddoc63 The Arab spring eg: change DID happen, but it's never what it promises to be. Old generations/think must actually die out -
@emlynaddison @peddoc63 That's normal. Change never happens overnight and is always a result of a series of initiatives.
-
@Gomba13 @peddoc63 Right, I was speaking to the fact that even riots DO bring about change, whether it's what they expected or not. -
@emlynaddison @peddoc63 Yes, but I think planned and organized riots are better. Reactionary riots hardly ever do any good.

@emlynaddison @peddoc63 Prayer's just another form of meditation. The fact that it's also religious takes nothing away from its usefulness.
-
@Gomba13 @peddoc63 I disagree with this; prayer produces an expectation of change, without actually doing anything to create that change. -
@emlynaddison @peddoc63 I disagree. Prayer has many purposes. There are mostly no expectations. Only stupid people expect it to be answered.
-
@Gomba13 @peddoc63 I think many faithful would most certainly take issue with THAT opinion! -
@emlynaddison @peddoc63 Have you ever asked a believer what they think will come of their praying? Hardly any would say god would help them.
