Saw the first Hunger Games. Never before has a movie with so much potential been scuttled by a studio bent on making a sequel to it.
@naughtmai At first I thought it was a "teen flick" then saw strong reviews and so I watched it.
Nah, teen flick.

@emlynaddison The books are targeted at older teens/young adults, but it didn't, IMO, fall into typical American teen soapy/shallowness.
-
@naughtmai That's why I was so frustrated! It had really strong ideas and good acting but fell flat. For me. -
@emlynaddison in the books, different aspects r emphasized. The games take weeks, for ex, & u know Catnis' internal mental state always.
-
@naughtmai After watching World War Z (and Walking Dead on TV) I just found the action/violence a bit tame & contrived... -
@emlynaddison Tame is because most movies r made pg-13 so kids & adults go see them, lol. A direct translation of the books require an R.
-
@naughtmai Man, that would have been nice. -
@emlynaddison *spoilers for Hunger Games 1* Katniss couldn't mercy-kill him right away like in the movie.
-
@naughtmai Yeah that's the usual edited-for-screen thing...
