Hey gun freaks. Don't tell me MORE #guns make us safer: http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/crime/2012/12/gun_death_tally_every_american_gun_death_since_newtown_sandy_hook_shooting.html …
You're not being honest about the data. Admit it.
@michaelchef This John Lott? http://scienceblogs.com/deltoid/2003/04/25/0426/ …
IMVHO gun control is not a city-level problem but a matter of societal conscience.

@emlynaddison In fact, that is what I blame is societal decay. People living off the govt, no desire to work, no role models for kids, etc.
-
@michaelchef I've always found this to be an unfairly simplistic assessment of the roots of social decay. We are not all born w/ opportunity -
@emlynaddison I made my opportunity, nothing was given. My children are working hard for theirs, nothing is given.
-
@michaelchef "Hard work" has nothing to do with gun deaths. Barricading yourself behind the threat of death is antisocial behavior.

@emlynaddison Can we agree that both sides want less gun crimes, less Newtown type crimes, less Chicago thugs?
-
@michaelchef That would go without saying. -
@emlynaddison Common ground!. Too many people against guns assume gun people all want murder, crime and tragedies like Newtown.
-
@michaelchef I never thought they "wanted" it, just that they didn't "not want it" enough to forsake their cultural habit/identity.

@michaelchef Be careful what sources you rely on. http://doubletap.cs.umd.edu/WikipediaStudy/details.htm … http://doubletap.cs.umd.edu/WikipediaStudy/namecalling.htm … http://doubletap.cs.umd.edu/WikipediaStudy/ -
@JohnRLottJr@michaelchef Yeah yeah

@emlynaddison The question is, what would you do if you could fix it? I agree with you about society in general by the way.
-
@michaelchef 1. Ruthless early childhood development ed. system; this is where it all starts. 2. School uniforms: nurture community early

@emlynaddison That is not a credible source either,but for sake of argument, you can find statistics on both sides that favor both arguments
-
@michaelchef I don't care if the source isn't credible; the logic is. I have not seen stats that accurately support more guns = less crime.
