I think @Joe35357's point could have been more explicatory. Platitudes are easy targets, dude! @GSpellchecker
@MistaHix Yes, it's undoubtedly an issue to contend with but is not really akin to alcohol prohibition; that was lifestyle not weaponry.

@emlynaddison But you'd still be left with 75m armed, angry and newly made criminals.
-
@MistaHix ...and therein lies the utter, ruthless stupidity of the American model: the paranoid, ruralist patriarchs have $$$ & connections. -
@emlynaddison it can be changed through democracy. Try harder. Educate. But be realistic. Change takes time. Thanks for the chat :)
-
@MistaHix Yep, a ban would take a series of well-crafted baby steps...not impossible, but highly improbable. I pity the Newtown children. -
@emlynaddison btw are you familiar with the Swiss model? Almost perfect definition of a "well regulated militia" and very few problems.
-
-
@emlynaddison Totally agree. But if mimicking another pro-gun countries policies results in less shootings... surely its worth a try?
-
@MistaHix Of course! In fact I say ban the damn things outright UNTIL we get a handle on violence in our culture. It only makes sense. - 2 more replies

@emlynaddison :) you mentioned alcohol, not me. Crack is prohibited, meth prohibited. All still major problems decades on.
-
@MistaHix Actually, you got me started with the word "prohibition" in your earlier tweet. I mistook that to mean "Prohibition"! -
@emlynaddison Anything can be on prohibition. It does not solely pertain to alcohol. The word existed before 20's America you know.
-
@MistaHix Yes, I'm aware of that ;) "Prohibition" (capital P) has been used before in the gun control debate...thus my assumption. -
@emlynaddison ok, but i think my context was clear :)
-
@MistaHix Well, I defy you to find any other mass prohibition law so closely linked with that word! -
@emlynaddison I was in context. Clarified for you once & you continued to misunderstand...

@MistaHix Ah, missed that...was already on to 300m guns...

@emlynaddison votes to change the constitution, by-passing Congress.Founding fathers did this specifically to check poss corruption in DC.
-
@MistaHix 80% support for a "law" is one thing; but support for a constitutional amendment is quite another...as we've seen. -
@emlynaddison I agree. Doubtful you'd even get close. You were talking of bans. How do you ban guns without amending constitution?
-
@MistaHix The 2nd amendment doesn't technically have to be struck so long as people agree to 1-shot muskets. THAT was the intent. -
@emlynaddison but it doesn't say "musket", does it? What do you think the NRA lawyers would do to that argument?
-
@MistaHix "Arms" would--COULD--have only been intended to mean what it meant when it was defined: muskets. Strange but inescapable. -
@emlynaddison Do you seriously think you can get the courts to rule only muskets allowed? If not, move on.
