Ben Elton was co-writer for Blackadder III. Last I checked, that was some of the #funniest shit on TV. Don't be so quick on those triggers.

@emlynaddison I think people have given him 25 years to come up with something vaguely decent -hardly quick on the trigger.

@duncanbishop84 IMO "his work is done" whether or not he follows it up. Same for@JohnCleese (Fawlty Towers) &@rickygervais (Office) et al.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

@emlynaddison Doesn't mean he should be excused dross like Blessed or this new sitcom. Not sure how much credit deserved for B III either

@emlynaddison He was part of a team of scriptwriters and top improvisational actors for Blackadder. How much of the funny stuff was his?

@duncanbishop84 Apparently his early standup was good back then... I look at Gervais' latest stuff and it's crap. Good work is done earliest1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

@emlynaddison His early standup wasn't good either, on reflection. Shouted punchlines and no structure to his routine, plus bad delivery.

@duncanbishop84 I want to know why Lee Evans hasn't done sitcoms/more TV work; one of the funniest actors I've ever seen.
