Despite repeated tragic incidents, Assam govt has not taken the issue as seriously as it should. Unless natural corridors and habitats are wide open, casualties bound to happen. It's a pity that we still chase elephants without respect, seems we don't take any lessons.
Much of Nambor and Doigrung wildlife sanctuaries in that part of Assam have been degraded or encroached up. This conflict is a result of that habitat destruction. Urgently both the sanctuaries must be restored and protected with proper animal corridors.
Why were the elephant corridors not protested? People obviously don’t care much about them anymore and it shows in this video. The government must step in now.
