That moment when you see a good, constructive, thoughtful thread and want to post in it to thank everyone for great discussion and let them know it's being read, but you know that doing so spotlights the thread, attracting attention that will likely derail it.

I wonder if just some kind of subtle mark that shows the thread is being read by a blue would have the same effect :/

Maybe, though in most cases it would lead to "hey we can see you've read the thread so why haven't you answered" - it's also why I rarely reply with "thanks, I've forwarded this on" etc. as it sets an expectation of getting an answer when I might not be able to provide one.
