Is it bad to consider refreshing a 5 year old PC rig next year just to play the inevitable PC version of FFVIIR in max settings, 4k, goodness?
(Like assuming that VIIR looks anywhere near as good on a high spec PC as XV did.)

I'd say yes, especially if you can repurpose the older rig. That's what I told myself at least.
Haha yeah the current rig is by no means "bad" as I shelled out on mostly higher end hardware at the time when I built it, so will either make a good media center or cheap(ish) hand-me-down to a friend etc.
