When it arrives on pc at some point, is it good to go through if you have never played ff before? ( Think I played 5 or 6, then a bit of 8 but that's it!). Can it be switched to turn based mode? Does it have the extra stuff in the original like the mega boss kinda things?

For sure, yes. It has a "Classic" mode where the game basically does all the action combat itself and then you just choose abilities as the bars fill. But it also uses Easy difficulty for that mode so it gets boring pretty quickly. And yes, it has a couple of mega bosses.
