Like I dunno if it's just the chain catering to the whole "the French don't like spicy food" stereotype, but the batter has no flavour to it at all.

As a native Spaniard I've found some non British foods/food ingredients prepared for the UK market are *way* spicier than they normally are and, for me, it kills the flavour of the actual food :/

Yeah that doesn't surprise me, we like our hot food
KFC isn't even that great in the UK but at least there's a mild hint of pepper etc. in the breadcrumbs, and the chicken tastes like chicken still.
