I already miss the more civilized approach to using non-rush hour public transport in London. I've been back in Paris for a day and already hate the world again after using the RER and a couple of buses.

We have vastly differing opinions of UK public transport... unless London is significantly better than my Thursday and Friday commutes to Birmingham. :P

Or maybe Paris is significantly worse than you imagine ;)

Worse than the UK rail network? Unless the trains have to be pushed along by the passengers then I find that difficult to believe :P

Well, trains are pretty terrible, but Paris Bus/Underground are another level of hell entirely :D

For the most part I was referring to the people mentality during non-rush hour: London: Calmly walking along (usually in herds), stand to the side of doors to let people get off first, same with buses. Paris: 'argey bargey, shoving, pushing, running, yielding to no-one etc.

Rush-hour in both cities is absolute hell though.
