Also, and bear with me here because I’m about to blow your minds collectively: it is also possible to lift the lid and drink without using a straw (for most people, don’t @ me)
My local KFC switched to paper straws a while ago, took me the whole of one drink to get used to the different texture. Heck, the same paper straw (brace yourselves "oh but they just disintegrate" people) survived two whole cups, mind-blowing I know.
