    Could not agree more. This is sorely missing from Biden’s regional strategy — so much so that many in the Indo-Pacific are asking whether America still believes it has compelling economic self interests in the region.

    Trips to Asia are good. An affirmative US economic agenda in Asia would be better.

    There's not one mention in this piece of an affirmative American vision or offering from the region, beyond defining the US as the un-China. If is going to play a role in the region on this trip and beyond, it would be well spent on that: health, innovation, climate, growth.

    According to today: “A key piece of information is that of the 53 people in ICU, 43 people are not vaccinated." So 10 people in ICU were fully or partly vaccinated. Vaccination imperative but it is not proof against or transmitting infection. Better to restore COVID zero.
