Was thinking about this today as well. I don't believe it's the jokes to blame (some being pretty bad tho, I agree). We easily get sick and tired of almost every recurring thing in our lives, we need fresh, new, never-seen-before, otherwise it just doesn't entertain us any more.

Its also the nature of the stunts that have changed. Example: ten years ago, Blizzard announced the Bard class for World of Warcraft, which had gameplay similar to Guitar Hero. Another year they announced they were bringing out something for Commodore 64. (Cont)
