I wrote about America's public health preparedness (pretty strong) and global leadership (not so strong) in dealing with the global coronavirus threat. US leadership is indispensable. The current approach by the Administration is not adequate to the task ahead.

In case you haven't seen this -- this is insane. I can't imagine any country other than China could do this -- built a large hospital to care for Coronavirus patients. From scratch to finish in 10 days.

4/5 Finally, scientific research This outbreak has been a shining example of great, global scientific collaboration. We have a LONG way to go towards therapies and vaccines for this virus. We should be investing a lot more on vaccine platforms, etc.

3/5 Global leadership: uh...not so strong. has been great. But Trump administration dismantled the White House biosecurity team. This is deeply worrisome Once again folks: walls won't save us We need deep engagement with the global community and more $. No short cuts

1st: Domestic Response Outbreak here is small. Our public health agencies and our hospitals are superb. They will handle it as long as outbreak remains contained But as and others have said, we need a PhEMA & a meaningful emergency fund to tap it if it gets big

Prediction: DG will declare a PHEIC tomorrow. This is no brilliant prediction. It must be done. While the is worrisome -- is the best chief we've had in a generation. And having running the response for is hugely helpful

I will never forget walking through Auschwitz with my survivor father. These are his photos with his notes. As he lay dying, he asked us we remembered the number tattooed on his arm. In unison, we recited “124053.”

Suicide kills nearly 50,000 Americans everywhere, affects all ages and most of us have been touched by it. So why aren't we talking about it? Why is it off limits in polite society? The brilliant on why we need to pay more attention to the epidemic of suicide.

This is a really important point. China of 2020 is very different than the China of 2003. China today is far more mobile and far more global. This is why the is becoming global far more quickly.
