Today in part 2 of my attempt to catch up on the new DiD literature: Revisiting the Difference-in-Differences Parallel Trends Assumption: Part II What happens if the parallel trends assumption is (might be) violated?

PSA: Apparently the way set.seed() works in R has changed since the release of version 3.6.0. So if you wrote simulations with set.seed() on previous releases of R, the same code may not produce the exact same results on the newest versions of R!!

Is your difference-in-differences reading list also getting really long? In today's post I summarize several papers that revisit the parallel trends assumption and what we learn from testing it holds in the pre-intervention periods

This is a GOP talking point used to dismantle public systems, & it’s sad to see a Dem candidate adopt it. Let’s talk about why Republicans are wrong on this. Just like rich kids can attend public school, they should be able to attend tuition-free public college. Here’s why.

I might get a bit of a family discount, but still pretty cool when a Nobel laureate blogs about your research

An interesting fairness paper by Rambachan and my cousin : They identify conditions under which algorithms naturally partially counteract historical human selection bias. 1/3

Great question! My job market paper (joint work with ) provides a new methodology for situations like these. I'll have a draft up soon (read: before Nov 15!) but happy to share the intuition 1/N

Key takeaways: they want 1) tough border enforcement but no wall, 2) a pathway to citizenships for undoc. immigrants with an English requirement, 3) govt ID required to vote and 4) worried about climate change but also worried that GND is too extreme
