224 pedestrians dead in 2022 in Bengaluru alone. Gone forever for crime of walking. 1,55,972 people dead in 2021 due to road accidents. 400 a day. If this is not a national crisis, I don’t know what is. A special session of Parliament and Assembly must be called to focus.

This. Exactly this. Air quality is about exposure. AQI averaged over the city, underestimates the impact of bad air. So much of the city population is vulnerable. Also remember - particle size is the same, but kids lungs and bronchus aren’t as developed. Imagine impact on kids.

Even, anecdotally, so many folk in town have been ill over the last month - personally, I've had a low-level cough for weeks that won't clear. It's grim and shouldn't be argued away with the 'Delhi is worse' line..

Initiative with potential to transform the imagination of streets across the city - from ‘roads for cars’, to ‘streets for people’. It’s already like that, but the priority is skewed in favor of automobiles, and no one benefits here. So thank you
